Meet the Cast

Interested in getting to know more about the Cast of The Waiter? Look no further!!


Forrest Rilling as Billy Beasley:


Forrest has been in theatre since he was 12 years old.  He has done musical theatre as well as straight plays.  He recently graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a B.A. in Theatre. He has played such parts as, Albert Peterson in Bye Bye Birdie, "Shoeless" Joe Hardy in Damn Yankees, Mr. Tiffany in Fashion! and Silvius in As You Like It.  He has also starred in the Marr Lands Films production I Kissed A Girl as Evan Manning.  Forrest would like to thank his family who support him very much, and the cast of The Waiter for being so much fun to work with.


Scott Courlander as Stoney-Joe:


Scott studied Acting with Mike Nichols and George Morrison at the New Actors Workshop in New York.  He has performed improv and sketch comedy at numerous venues in New York including the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater.  Area credits include The Good Doctor with
the Chevy Chase Players, The Foreigner and Translations with the Rockville Little Theatre,
A Phoenix Too Frequent with the Unexpected Stage, Johnny Schicchi with the Georgetown Theater Company,  The Last Days of Judas Iscariot with the Silver Spring Stage, as well as Larry Blossom's first original work A Family Reunion.  Scott has also performed with the Washington Improv Theatre.  Scott is currently producing his own original work Medieval Story Land for the 2012 Capital Fringe Festival.

Molly MacKenzie as Melanie: 

Molly is a recent graduate of George Mason University's Theater Department. While there she starred in shows such as TempODYSSEY (Ginny), Room Service (Faker) and The Nerd(Clelia). Her more recent shows include The Morphine Diaries (I.V.) during the 2011 DC Fringe Festival, the Trove Plays (Maria Merian) at the National Museum of Women in Art in DC and a webseries (NextNik). She is very excited to be a part of The Waiter and would like to thank her family and friends for all their support.

Judith Lowe as Grammy:

Judith is delighted to rejoin fellow cast members from A Family Reunion in this newest play written by Larry Blossom.  Judith and her husband live in Sandy Spring, MD.  Together they enjoy live theater, music concerts, and international travel.  Judith has been teaching and tutoring Spanish for many years.  In addition, she has acted in productions at Montgomery Playhouse, Rockville Little Theatre, The Arts Barn, Laurel Mill Playhouse and Silver Spring Stage.  Her most memorable role was that of Juanita in Come Back to the 5 and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean.  Judith wishes to thank all those involved in this production, and most especially Larry for his kindness, patience and generosity.

Belinda J. Fadlemola as Opal:

This year began with Belinda's directorial debut with the gospel play He’s Not Your Soul Mateperformed in Richmond, VA.  Now, she is excited that it will end with an exceptional opportunity to play the role of Opal in The Waiter.  Her films End of Occupation and Lives and Deaths of Poets were also released this year.  2011 has been golden.

Isidora Sasser as Crazy Connie:

Isidora is a Chilean - Italian actress who is thrilled to be part of The Waiter. She has a B.A. in Political Sciences from Universidad de Santiago. She studied Judiciary Interpretation at George Washington University. She began her acting studies in 2009 at Theatre Lab, andTwelve Angry Women was her debut on stage. Other theatre credits include The Richies(Carolyn) , Farragut North (waitress: Rosa), A Family Reunion (Gabriella). Last year, Isidora got cast for her first role in a film - Fractured Legacy. In addition, she is a member of the Actor Center in Washington DC.

Greg Burgess as Jack:

Greg s a member of Chesapeake Shakespeare Company and was last seen as Shylock in the Merchant of Venice. This is Greg's first performance in an Out-Side the Box production. Greg has also been in CSC's productions of Midsummer Night's DreamComedy of Errors,Cymbeline, and Lysistrata. Training includes The Martin Blank Studio, The Shakespeare Theater and Howard University.

Katie Zitz as Katty:

Katie Zitz, a Theatre alum from Virginia Wesleyan College, is thrilled to be a part of The Waiter. While at VWC, she performed in Miss Witherspoon (Veronica), The Taming of the Shrew (Katherina), Everyman (Everyman), and The Odd Couple - Female Version (Olive Madison). Recently, she performed in The Little Theatre of Alexandria's Move Over, Mrs. Markham (Sylvie), and a one-woman show entitled, Saving Face.  Katie would like to thank her friends and family for their love and support. Also, love to Scott for being such fabulous arm-candy. 

Suzanne Knapik as Mom:

Suzanne is excited to be doing her second show with Out-Side the Box Theatre where she last played Emily in A Family Reunion. She was recently seen in Our Town at Chesapeake Shakespeare Theatre.  Other recent roles include Eileen in A Nervous Smile with the Capital Fringe Festival and The Duke in an all-women Measure For Measure with Venus Theatre. She worked for three years in many capacities for Sanctuary Theatre in DC, focusing on plays ranging from the absurd to the political.  Her favorite role was Hsien-E in Fanshen—the true life woman who was the first to ask for and be granted a divorce in China after the Chinese Communist Revolution. Other favorite roles include Marge in the Laramie Project(Spotlighters), Hannah in Angels in America (Spotlighters/Mad Shag), Ophelia inRosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead at The Globe Theatre in Los Angeles.  She has a B.A. in theatre from Point Park College in Pittsburgh. 

Joy Cecilly Gerst as The Preacher's Wife & Bubbe:


Joy is thrilled to be working with this very talented cast.    Joy was most recently seen at the Olney Theater Heritage Stage in DTC's production of Oliver.  Joy has been performing in community theater for a VERY long time in PA, GA, TN, MD, VA and D.C. In the D.C. area she has been seen in productions with RMT, RLT, DTC, Foundry Players, CCP, MP, SSTG, PTC,  KAT, and St. George's Players.  Favorite roles include: Joanne in Company, Marjory inThe Tale of the Allergist's Wife, "Sarah" in Quilters, Jennie Malone in Chapter Two, Hodel and Frumah Sarah in Fiddler on the Roof (two different productions), Adelaide in Guys and 

Dolls, Chelsea in On Golden Pond,  Mother Superior in Nunsense,  Elaine Navazio in Last of the Red Hot Lovers, and Mae Peterson in Bye, Bye, Birdie, to name a few.    Joy is very proud of her grown children, Matt and his wife Jen, Jonathan, and Elyssa. By day, Joy is a Speech Therapist for MCPS and she is an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics.

Jim Epstein as Mr. Perpetually Undecided 

Jim has been in shows at Arena Stage, Folger Shakespeare Theatre, Studio Theatre, Keegan Theater, MetroStage, Theatre of the First Amendment, Active Cultures, Capital Fringe Festival, Source Festival, DC Black Theatre Festival, Georgetown Theatre Company, and First Draft/Charter among others. TV and commercial credits include HBO’s Game Change and VEEPAmerica’s Most Wanted and a national Geico commercial with the Caveman and Mike Green.  Upcoming productions include Sportaculture4 & the Source Theatre Festival.
